I have a solution for you but the etrailer Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier item # e98ZR and other comparable spare tire carriers at that price range aren't rated for motorhome wheels/tires. The main issue is that the mounting system won't accommodate wheels with large bolt patterns like 8 on 6-1/2". That carrier can only support up to 6 lug wheels that weigh under 121 lbs.

It isn't the heat so much as it is the UV rays and the dry air that causes covers (and tires) to degrade. There are products you can buy at your local auto parts store to condition and protect the vinyl as well as the rubber tires so that both will last longer than 18 months!
